Ellen’s Interior Motives.

“I’m going to need more than a few pillows,” quipped Ellen DeGeneres, right after we playfully suggested she take a few of the first ED Ellen DeGeneres samples for her home. “I’m taking them all!” While starstruck in the moment, we still felt a sense of appreciation; a validation of the months of design work alongside the ED team to bring her first line of rugs, pillows and throws to fruition.

And although her comment was tongue-in-cheek, she does technically have a lot of rooms to fill. A lifelong interior decorating enthusiast, Ellen has bought and renovated nearly a dozen homes over the last 25 years, many which have graced the editorials of Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, or the pages of her own design book, Ellen DeGeneres Home.

Today, her well-documented love of interiors takes a new form: ED Ellen DeGeneres. Having already launched a line of bedding, serve-ware, and table linens, ED is rolling out furniture with Thomasville in early 2017, as well as seven rug collections, three throw collections, and over 50 decorative pillows with Loloi.
When I someday decide to stop doing the show, my entire focus is going to be on design. This is something I’ve wanted to do for a very long time. Ellen Degeneres
“This is the beginning of a big, big business,” says Ellen. Indeed, the ambition is to grow the ED rug, pillow and throw selection twice a year.

Relentless as her schedule is, Ellen insisted on personally reviewing and approving each rug, pillow and throw for the launch firsthand. “I think it’s important that I’m not just signing over my name,” says Ellen. “This is me, every decision on design, everything I’m putting out there.”
